Welcome to Allergy Free Athlete! The purpose of this blog is to share my pursuit to be a competitive endurance athlete and dealing with celiac disease and multiple food allergies. In addition to gluten, I am allergic to dairy, soy, corn, yeast, shellfish, tree nuts, coconut, eggs, and cocoa. I have been a vegetarian my whole life, but in the past year and a half with the identification of these allergies and a celiac disease diagnosis, I have started to eat fish. It has been a struggle to find safe foods to eat that have the nutritional power to fuel my athletic endeavors.


My goal is to nourish my body through optimal nutrition, enjoy my food while being confident it is safe for me to eat, not feel like I am deprived of foods I want, all while chasing my dream to be an elite distance runner. My hope is that through sharing my journey, including the trials, tribulations, and successes, I can help other athletes with celiac disease or food allergies gain insight into navigating the world of fueling the body despite restrictions while training and competing in sports.
